Eureka Snacks
Traveling from Singapore to Pulau Tioman can be an exciting but at the same time somewhat tiring experience, especially when you're doing it by bus, rather than by taxi. In view of this, it's important to keep yourself from going into a lethargic state from a lack of nourishment. This is why I always bring along a few packets of my favorite snack, Eureka Snacks, when I embark on a journey that takes a few hours or so.
Not only are Eureka Snacks delicious, they are also made without any preservatives, transfats or GMO's, making them both a healthy and a guilt-free snack option. My personal favorites are the Curry and Wasabi flavors, both of which providing the perfect balance of seasoning and savoury relish. Also, because the Eureka snacks containers are super-light to pack, this popcorn is really the ideal snack for when you're on-the-go.
The early bird...
Now, in addition to packing a few packets of Eureka Snacks, I also recommend booking your bus and ferry tickets in advance. This not only ensures that you have a hassle-free experience, but it also provides you with peace of mind, knowing that your journey is all planned out.
As a Tioman Island regular, I happen to know that the number of ferry crossings the ferry can do to Tioman is limited by the level of the sea during departure time. In practice, this means there are always a couple of days they can only do a single crossing to Tioman. This is why it's advisable to make sure you have tickets, rather than trying to get last-minute tickets as a walk-in passenger.
Bus or Coach
Now, there are several bus and coach companies that offer their services between Singapore and Mersing, such as Bus 170, Bus 950, and Bus CW3 a.k.a. Translink. In both cases, it's a good idea to book your tickets for your road transport online too, as weekends, public holidays and school holidays in Singapore and Malaysia often coincide and thus are heavy-traffic periods.
Incidentally, the entire summer holiday season is pretty much peak season also, by the way, as this is when overseas tourists descend onto the area in droves. Basically, booking early makes sense.
Come and Get It
Alright, do you want to find some shiok snacks to keep your grumbling tummy at bay during the bus and ferry journeys to Tioman Island? Well, then you're in luck, because Mersing Harbour Centre is one of Malaysia's few locations blessed with a vending machine dedicated to mouthwatering goodies created by Eureka Snacks. And they're available round the clock!
Then again, perhaps you're still in Singapore, still planning your Tioman trip? Then it's good to know that you can get your favorite Eureka Snacks popcorn online too. With convenient home delivery, double-shiok :)
Happy snacking!
