Paya Beach Spa & Dive Resort
Paya Beach Resort is also known as Paya Beach Spa & Dive Resort. But whatever you call it, I can safely say that you'll have a wonderful time here, not least from the awesome tropical island mood that Paya Beach Resort's idyllic location exudes.

Sunsets here are simply breathtaking. Best of all, they can be enjoyed from the comfort of your own balcony if you book the seaview room, which we did. It's not easy to beat the feeling of utter relaxation hanging back with your loved ones in the mesmerizing stillness of paradise, while enjoying a cold one. This alone makes Paya Beach Resort recommendable.
Paya Beach Resort buffet is a nice spread
But we soon learned that Paya Beach Resort has quite a bit more in store for visitors.
If you're into snorkeling, then you're in luck, because the house reef is very nice. Just get yourself a dive mask and flippers and walk the minute or so the water line. The sea was fresh, and very transparent. We could see quite far below the surface.
Apart from the corals, we also saw plenty of fish and even a turtle. Not too far from Paya is a little island called Renggis. It's a stone throw from Tioman but we were told it has some of the best snorkeling in the area. Well, we weren't disappointed. It was the best snorkeling outing I ever had.
If land-based activities are more your thing, then you can go for a jungle-trek. Paya is at the foot of Tioman's highest point, so there are plenty of treks to follow. A few friends in our group took a guided tour and saw a waterfall and Rafflesia, which apparently, is the biggest flower in the world.

All in all, never a dull moment at Paya Beach Resort, especially given the in-house Spa and the swimming pool added to the activities mix recently.
Paya Beach Resort staff is friendly and helpful. We had a few questions during our stay, nothing major, and were never left wanting. We'd give the staff full marks on know-how and courtesy. It was obvious everyone had received hospitality training.
This also applies to the staff at the Paya Beach Resort dive outfit. They know their stuff and they enjoy their job, that much was clear. Kudos to all of them.
The food at Paya Beach Resort is par for the course. In fact, considering the modest price we paid for the stay, we feel that the meals were actually quite good. But in the interest of full disclosure, you can also get food and beverages at the village eateries nearby, just for variation I suppose.
Conclusion
Paya Beach Resort is some of the best value for money available in Tioman Island. Sure, there are resorts more up-market with posh this and swanky that. All power to them. But Paya Beach Resort is in a league of its own when it comes to complete tropical island holiday package at a friendly price. That said, Paya Beach Resort isn't a massive resort, so rooms are not exactly in abundance. My advice is to book fairly far in advance.
Tip: Some of Paya Beach Resort's have been upgraded recently, so when you book your room online, ask for one of these newer rooms.
